When someone dies at home you can feel pressure to get the body removed to a funeral director, for some reason this feels like the right thing to do. It may not be what you want to do however.
Give yourselves quiet time to sit peacefully. The pain and discomfort are over and the finality of this moment need not be rushed.
There is nothing to be scared of and you have travelled with them on this journey.

When you are ready, call the Funeral Director, ask them how they gently collect and who will be coming.

You may want to keep them at home, in their bed for one more night (or more). You may want to have the person at home for one more night before their funeral ceremony, it’s very personal.

All these things are possible – it may be the brushing of hair, the painting of nails, continue to read aloud a story that you were sharing.

We are able to facilitate this in a dignified manner, we have supported many people to do this and know that if this is the right thing to do for you and your family then it will really help in coming to terms with your loss.
Losing someone’s physical form is a massive wrench sometimes, this may help to soften the blow.

We also have a cooling blanket that can be used to keep someone at home after death.
Call if you wish to discuss any of this further.
